This Writesonic review tests a platform that has changed a lot since we first covered it. Writesonic still writes blog posts, landing pages and marketing copy, but it now sells itself as an AI search visibility platform, and the pricing has moved with it: the old ~$16 plan is gone and paid plans start at USD $79 a month billed annually. We put the writing tools through real tasks to see what you get for that, and lowered our score from 8/10 to 7/10.

Writesonic Review

If you’ve tried ChatGPT and want something built for producing content rather than chatting, Writesonic is still worth a look. In this Writesonic review we cover what it writes, what the new AI-search side of the platform does, and whether the higher prices are justified for writers and marketers.

What is Writesonic?

Writesonic is a San Francisco-based AI content and search visibility platform. It started life as an AI writing tool with templates for blog posts, ads and product descriptions; in 2026 it repositioned as what it calls “The AI Search Growth Engine”, combining an AI Article Writer with tools that track how often your brand is recommended by ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, audit your site, and suggest fixes. The writing is still there. It now sits inside a bigger, more expensive product aimed at marketing teams.

What Can You Do With Writesonic?

  • Long-form articles — Writesonic’s AI Article Writer produces 3,000 to 8,000-word pieces with citations, FAQs, schema markup, internal links and hero images, and can publish straight to WordPress, Webflow, Contentful, Sanity or Ghost
  • Marketing copy and product descriptions — Writesonic’s AI Content Agent handles the shorter formats: ads, landing pages, emails and social posts
  • Brand voice — Writesonic loads a writing-style profile at every step and checks the draft against it; Starter includes one
  • AI search visibility tracking — Writesonic monitors which prompts in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews mention your brand (50 prompts a day on Starter)
  • Site audits — Writesonic crawls your site for SEO and AI-search issues (10 audits of 100 pages a month on Starter)
  • Action Center — Writesonic turns audit and tracking findings into a to-do list of on-page and off-page fixes

Writesonic Pricing

Basic$199/month billed annually ($249 monthly)25Small teams, 2 users
Growth$399/month billed annually ($499 monthly)50Teams who want sentiment analysis, 3 users

Writesonic bills in USD. Annual billing saves 20% against monthly; the table shows both so you are not caught out. There is no longer a free plan: you get a free trial with no credit card required, and a 7-day no-questions-asked refund after that. Every plan caps AI articles per month and article add-ons are sold separately, so if you mainly want the writing, count how many pieces you actually publish before choosing a tier. Writesonic Review: Pros & Cons

Writesonic Pros

  • Writesonic’s AI Article Writer produces long, fully structured pieces with citations, schema and images in one pass
  • Publishes straight to WordPress, Webflow and other CMSs
  • Brand voice profile applied and checked on every draft
  • AI search tracking and site audits included in the same subscription
  • Free trial with no credit card, plus a 7-day refund

Writesonic Cons

  • Writesonic now starts at USD $79 a month billed annually; the ~$16 plan and the free plan have gone
  • Output can feel generic without a detailed brief and brand voice set-up
  • 15 articles a month on Starter is tight for volume publishers
  • Most of the subscription pays for AI-search tracking you may not need
  • A lot of platform to learn if all you want is a writing tool

Who Is Writesonic For?

Writesonic is designed for content marketers, bloggers, and SEO teams who want a full AI writing suite covering long-form articles, landing pages, ad copy, and social content with built-in SEO optimisation. If you are producing content regularly for organic search and want AI to handle first drafts across multiple formats in one platform, Writesonic provides broad coverage. It is less suited to users who need a single specialist tool — it does many things at a moderate level rather than one thing exceptionally well.

Key Use Cases

Blog post drafts. Writesonic can generate a full article outline and first draft in minutes. You’ll still need to edit, but it gives you something solid to work from rather than staring at a blank page.

Marketing copy. Product descriptions, ad copy, email subject lines, and landing page headlines are where Writesonic is most consistent. Short, punchy copy tends to come out well with minimal editing.

Social media content. Captions, LinkedIn posts, and tweet threads can be generated in bulk using the built-in templates. Useful if you need to keep multiple channels active without spending hours writing.

SEO-focused articles. The Article Writer tool lets you target a keyword and produce content structured around it — handy for affiliate and niche sites where volume and consistency matter.

Content repurposing. Paste in an existing article and Writesonic can produce social posts, summaries, or email versions of the same content. A decent time-saver if you’re working across multiple formats.

What Are the Downsides of Writesonic?

The price has jumped. When we first tested Writesonic the Individual plan was around USD $16 a month with a free plan underneath it. In September 2026 the cheapest paid plan is Starter at USD $79 a month billed annually, or $99 monthly, and the free plan has been replaced by a trial. The writing tools have not changed as much as the bill has; what you are paying for now is the AI-search tracking and audits bundled around them.

Accuracy can slip. Like most AI tools, Writesonic can confidently state things that aren’t true. Any factual claims need to be verified before publishing — don’t rely on it for statistics or current events.

Outputs can feel generic. Without a detailed brief or brand voice guidance, the writing can sound like every other AI article online. You’ll need to add your own voice and perspective in editing.

Word limits on lower plans. The free and entry-level plans have relatively low word limits, which can be frustrating if you’re trying to produce content at any kind of volume.

Long-form quality drops off. Short-to-medium content tends to be stronger. Very long articles often lose coherence partway through or start repeating earlier points.

Interface can be overwhelming. There are a lot of templates and tools on offer, which is great once you know your way around — but the initial learning curve can feel steep if you’re new to AI writing tools.

How Does It Compare to ChatGPT?

If you want a general AI assistant for everything, ChatGPT is still the better all-rounder and far cheaper. Writesonic’s edge is the finished article: brief in, publication-ready piece out, with citations, schema and a hero image, pushed to your CMS. ChatGPT gives you text you then have to build into a page yourself. If you publish a lot of long-form content for search, that difference is worth paying for; if you write a few posts a month, it is not.

Is Writesonic Good? Our Verdict

Yes, for teams — we scored Writesonic 7/10, down from 8. It produces finished, publishable long-form articles and bundles AI-search tracking and site audits with them, which is good value if you need all three and poor value if you only want the writing. Quality is inconsistent on longer pieces and output can feel generic without careful prompting.

Writesonic is now a business tool rather than a blogger’s tool. At USD $79 a month billed annually it makes sense for a site or team publishing a dozen or more search-led articles a month who also want to see whether ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews are recommending them. If you are a solo writer who liked the old cheap plan, that product no longer exists, and the trial is the way to find out whether the new one earns its price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Writesonic worth it?

If you publish long-form content for search and want AI-search tracking in the same place, yes. Writesonic Starter is USD $79 a month billed annually for 15 articles plus tracking and audits, which undercuts buying those separately. If you only want a writing tool, it is no longer good value: the ~$16 plan has gone and a general assistant will do the writing for a fraction of the price.

Is Writesonic free to use?

No, not any more. Writesonic replaced its free plan with a free trial that needs no credit card, and there is a 7-day refund if you pay and change your mind. Paid plans start at USD $79 a month billed annually ($99 monthly) for Starter, which includes 15 AI articles a month.

How does Writesonic compare to Jasper?

Both are aimed at marketing teams, but they have grown in different directions. Jasper is a brand-voice marketing content platform; Writesonic is a long-form article writer bolted to an AI-search visibility tracker. Now that Writesonic starts at USD $79 a month, it is no longer the budget option, so pick on what you need: Jasper for campaign copy across a team, Writesonic for volume SEO and AI-search articles.

Can Writesonic write full blog posts?

Yes — Writesonic has an Article Writer feature that can generate a full long-form blog post from a title and keywords. The output is a solid starting point, but you’ll want to edit it for accuracy, add your own examples, and fact-check before publishing.

Is Writesonic good for beginners?

Partly. The Article Writer itself is simple: give it a topic and a keyword and it does the rest. The wider platform, with prompt tracking, audits and the Action Center, takes some learning, and at USD $79 a month it is priced for businesses rather than hobby bloggers.

Can I cancel my Writesonic subscription?

Yes — cancel anytime from your Writesonic account settings. Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period with no further charges. Unused credits are not refunded and do not carry over. Annual plans are billed upfront for the full year with no partial refunds, so it is worth testing on a monthly plan first before committing to annual billing.
