The weekly round-up from WhatAITools: what we tested, what scored, and what to skip. One post a week — the same digest that lands in WAIT Weekly inboxes.
🎬 Tested: Luma Dream Machine — 7.5/10
Luma Dream Machine produces some of the most natural motion in AI video, especially from a still image, and the free web tier renews around 80 credits a day. The catch is the arithmetic: a 10-second 1080p clip on Ray 3.14 costs roughly 800 credits, so “free” means one short, watermarked clip. The March 2026 restructure bundles Veo, Kling and Seedance into a shared credit pool, but the ladder now starts at $30 a month against Runway at $12 with a proper editor — which is why the score is 7.5 and not higher. Read the Luma Dream Machine review.
📣 Tested: AdCreative.ai — 8.5/10
AdCreative.ai scored 8.5/10 for removing the design bottleneck: it generates dozens of on-brand ad variants in minutes and scores them before you spend. The pricing assumes you are already buying media — Starter at $39 a month caps you at 10 creatives, and Professional, the tier most people actually need, is $249 a month. Every plan comes with a 7-day trial, which is the only sensible way to judge whether the time saved covers that line item. Read the AdCreative.ai review.
🎙️ Head-to-head: Descript vs Riverside
Descript (8.8/10) and Riverside (8.5/10) get compared constantly by podcasters, but they solve consecutive problems rather than the same one — Descript is an editor, Riverside is a recorder. Riverside captures 4K video and lossless local audio on separate tracks per participant from $14 a month; Descript has a free tier and lets you edit video like a document. Most podcasters who ask the question end up recording in Riverside and editing in Descript. Read the comparison.
